Photos in an Iowa Sunflower Field
Hi! I’m Amelia Renee, photographer native to Iowa and lover of all the flowers. :) This post is one of my favorites (and probably will be yours, too!). Sunflowers are all the rage these days on Pinterest, at local farmer’s market stands, and in watercolor art.
I even found a sunflower pin that’s my new favorite accessory!
I’m most passionate about helping people grow, develop, and care for those around them. Before I moved to Des Moines to pursue my photography business full time, I lived in Ames working with college students. Non-Profits still make my heart flutter! When I’m not busy, you can find me immersed in a good fiction book, watching Parks & Rec, decorating my home in the Drake neighborhood, or dreaming up my next trip. If you’d like to know more about me, you can read that here, and if you’re interested in wedding or senior photography in the Des Moines area (or destination shoots!) you can email me here. :) Glad to meet you! Don’t be a stranger!
Senior photos with sunflowers seem to be quite the fad these days- and I’m NOT MAD about it! It’s so fun! However, there are SO many other ideas I’ve got as well. So if you’re interested in a senior session with your horse in an Iowa field at sunset, or maybe hitting up the roller rink for some 80’s styled senior pictures, or a dance themed session with some epic smoke bombs… I’m your gal!
Ask anyone what the happiest flower is, and they'll tell you "sunflowers!" 99% of the time. They're the state flower of Kansas (my dad's home state) and one of my mom's favorite flowering plants. My sister loves to snack on sunflower seeds... and I guess that I love to photograph in front of them! After this portrait photo session, sunflowers may also just be creeping up my "favorite flower" list. What can I say?! This field of sunflowers had me in loooooove, and it's just south of Des Moines! Due to the copious amounts of insects feeding on them, they don't last long, but man... they're magical. I had the best evening exploring the rows of sunny blooms with sweet Morganne!
Isn't she just the cutest!? Gosh, this girl is fun!
I handed my camera over to Morganne, and she generously took a few photos of ME! Sooo fun.
I would looooove to take some Des Moines seniors' photos here (if the blooms allow it!) this coming week. Shoot me an email if you want to schedule a last minute session with these gorgeous babes! Also, I've got some great ideas up my sleeve for upcoming August/September seniors. So don't feel bad if we miss the flowers. Your senior picture session can be just as fun!
