Announcing ARP Mentor Sessions!

I really can’t believe this day is here, and to be honest– I’m not quite sure what I’ve been waiting for. Before we get into all the details, let’s rewind…

Growing up, I planned to go into education. Although I ended up switching my major to photography and general studies, I’ve always been passionate about personal development and passing on what I’ve learned to others! I do not regret becoming a photographer! This past 6 months I’ve pursued photography full time, and have learned so much more than I could have imagined. In that time frame, I’ve had many, many requests from others just starting their photography journey. Five years into my business, the day has come to expand!

Five years ago, I started my business. It was the right step, and I knew it, but I was clueless and terrified. (Still am, sometimes!) I had a photography education under my belt, but little direction on where I was headed. I would spend time in-between classes my senior year, and weekend afternoons pouring over other photographers’ blogs gathering any information and knowledge I could. Searching countless hours online is hard… can I get an amen for that?!

I am SO excited to be announcing that as of today, I will be officially offering mentoring sessions for other photographers! After five years in business and nearing 70 photographed weddings, I think it’s time for me to pass on some of the things I’ve learned over the years. It is SO important to really know what you’re doing, especially with so many people interested in photography. If you want to make it in the business of photography, or even just grow as an artist & creative, you must invest in training. There are countless ways to do that (art & business school, workshops around the country, working for another photographer, etc.) but I’m starting off with mentor sessions!

There are a few reasons for this! I believe that community is CRUCIAL to running a business. Mentorship allows us to grow in friendship, and if it’s a good fit— who knows! We could end up running a successful business together, or just referring brides along. I also hope to continue to grow as a mentor & role model for fellow photographers. :) So here are the details…

WHAT: 2 Hour in-Person or Skype Mentor Session with Amelia

In this time together, we can talk about anything from photography techniques to editing to client relations to running a business… I’m an open book! Whatever you’re struggling with most, I’m here to help.

WHERE: Des Moines… or Anywhere!

In-Person mentoring is my preferred way to go. This way, we can use with our cameras together and if you want hands-on training for a specific kind of session, we can do that. Plus…I’ll take a few headshots, just of you!

The beauty of Skype is that you can be anywhere– coffee in hand, cozy at home. We’ll allow technology (Skype/FaceTime/Google Hangouts) to connect us from anywhere in the world. This works well if you aren’t local to Des Moines or Iowa.

WHEN: Beginning today, I’m available to start scheduling sessions at a time that work for both of us!

WHY?

Why do you need a mentor session? Maybe you’re a new photographer who just can’t seem to keep up with the hardships of running a business. Or perhaps you’re a few years into your business– you’re feeling stuck and your business needs a jumpstart.  Wherever you are in your photography journey, it’s time to get the opinions & advice of someone who also has grown their business from the bottom up. I want to be your biggest cheerleader & invaluable resource and set you off in the right direction to achieve the business you dream of.

COST: $350 ($250 for the first 5 to book!)

This introductory cost is available for the first 5 people to sign up for mentor sessions! 2 hours with Amelia. No question is off limits, no question is too silly.

See you soon!
