The Chateau at White Oak Wedding // Gabby + David
WOW. Where to begin with this wedding day!? Gabby and David had a beautiful summer day for their Chateau at White Oak wedding. A little overnight rain led to a cloudy morning, but as the clouds cleared and the sun appeared, humidity rose and we remembered that August never feels like the end of summer. ;) However, just a few blocks away from the church where these two married, David will finish up school this fall semester at Iowa State.
In fact, that’s where these two met. Well, kinda! They officially met in Florida, with other ISU and midwestern college students in a summer program with a campus ministry. David and Gabby hung out in groups, but the attraction sparked between the two of them, and by fall of sophomore year, they were dating! A proposal happened during senior year in downtown Ames, and a wedding was planned soon after. :)
While the guys went golfing, the girls were busy with hair and makeup in one of the many spacious rooms at Harvest Vineyard. We had to make sure to grab a photo of the gals in their coordinating plaid shirts!
My best girl and 2nd shooter for the day, Erin, took the guys to a bike path near the church for some formal photos. She did SO great, and I’m both impressed and jealous. These men were apparently super fun and hilarious to work with… see “little library” photos to follow!
Back at the church, Gabby opted to have a first look with her dad & saved her first look with David for the ceremony. The relationship between this father-daughter duo is so tender. Their love was so evident!
Ceremony time! David was on the verge of tears the entire time his bride walked towards him… so so sweet.
Gabby and David asked me, early on in our email consultation, about recommended vendors. The Chateau at White Oak was one I suggested, and I’m SO glad they picked this venue for their wedding reception! I could live on the grounds… the winery is gorgeous, there are rolling hills with sheep across the road, and the staff were extremely helpful and accommodating! Also, the catering there is TOP NOTCH. Please, 2020 brides, book this venue and me. ;)
I love this photo Erin snapped of the bridesmaids all arriving at the venue to greet their newly married friend!

The men of Farmhouse Fraternity at ISU, where David is a member, have a wedding tradition called serenades. It was quite entertaining, and a lot longer than I expected… definitely like 3 songs, with choreography! So great.
Snuck these two out for a few golden hour portraits…
Gabby & David, thank you! It was such a joy to celebrate with you both & all your family and friends. I wish you all the best in your first year of marriage, and beyond.
