Izaak Walton League Des Moines Wedding // Noelle + Cody
COVID-19 has significantly changed so many couples’ wedding plans, Noelle and Cody included. However, they rolled with the punches and their patience paid off— Iowa opened up the state to allow wedding venues to host at 50% capacity, just the week before their rescheduled wedding! Though only 10 persons were allowed in the church for the ceremony, the entire family, bridal party, and many friends were able to celebrate together that evening. What a joy!
Cody and Noelle met during high school in Altoona, and over time, became close friends. It turned into something “more” the summer before Cody’s senior year. They dated while enjoying time together in Des Moines, and then long distance during college. Cody attended school in Iowa, but Noelle chose to go out of state. Both have shared that they’ve learned much in their long distance relationship, but are thrilled to be starting life together in Cedar Rapids. MARRIED LIFE TOGETHER!!!
Their wedding day was perfect. The end of May lends to some crazy weather, and earlier in the week we’d had tornados in the metro. Thankfully, Saturday rolled around and it was sunny + even hot outside. Emotions were high, and tears were shed as the bride prepped for her day, surrounded by her older sister and best friends. Just wait until you see Noelle’s mom watch her putting on her veil. (Such sweet tenderness!) After the intimate ceremony at St Joseph’s church and photos in nearby Grandview Park, the wedding party and I headed to the capital for a few more photos… since we had time and a few clouds rolled in, giving us the perfect lighting! This crew was FUN and I could have hung out the rest of the weekend with them!!
The reception was held at the Des Moines branch of the Izaak Walton League. It’s surrounded by gorgeous land and trees, the perfect hideaway from busting city. One of my favorite moments from the reception was when Noelle’s family literally “stopped, dropped, and rolled” on the floor for their infamous “alligator dance”! HILARIOUS! With their feet rooted in faith, and the support of their families, I can tell that Noelle and Cody will go far together. Congrats again, you two!!
