This wedding day was so long awaited! Olivia and David booked me for their 2020 wedding back in mid-2019… and then I ended up not seeing them in person (although we did talk on the phone multiple times!) for over a year #becausecovid. These two made the hard call to postpone their May wedding celebration in March, and ended up getting married in Chicago last summer with just immediate family in a park. I wasn’t able to be there, but they assured me that they’d still be celebrating at the Des Moines Botanical Gardens in 2021!

Olivia and David both love to laugh & play jokes on each other. They don’t take life TOO seriously, and I think that has carried them well through the pandemic and will be so crucial for maintaining a healthy marriage!! Their engagement photos featured “tiny hands” and Olivia pulled out a pair of joke glasses for their first look… I loved it!! Not only are these two lovers of laughter, but they are KIND. Their families welcomed me into the day with nothing but warmth! My first wedding at the DSM Botanical Gardens did NOT disappoint, and I’d totally go back and shoot it again just for fun. :) Hopefully more of this classic Des Moines wedding venue (and also this fun couple!!) are in my future!
