My Preferred Des Moines Wedding Vendors

As a longtime wedding photographer in central Iowa, I have seen it ALL (or, just about!) when it comes to wedding day venues, disasters, vendors, and winning combinations!! Even though I send out a magazine to my newly booked couples that highlights some of my favorite tricks, timeline helps, and vendor recommends… I figured this could also be a blog post! (however, if you book me, you’ll definitely get more info that detailed here… so that’s a perk for you!!)

VENUES

1868 Farmhouse (below) in Boone is gorgeous and I’m a HUGE fan. If you book a wedding here, PLEASE give me a call! ;) White, modern with a touch of rustic… it’ll be beautiful for any season and color palette!

Prairie Moon Winery in Ames is one of my VERY favorites. I’ve done 4 or 5 weddings here and it just never disappoints me!! Whether you spend the full day here or split it up between ISU campus and the vineyards, you’ll be content. The newly refinished dressing spaces are also wonderful so you can even plan on getting ready here with your wedding party!!

Forte Conference & Banquet center (below) is one of my new favorite Des Moines wedding venues!! I’m desperately hoping to photograph here again- it’s wonderfully situated downtown, so your guests could walk to their hotel if they desire- or it’s easy access from the interstate if you get married in a park or church and host the reception here!

Reiman Gardens (below) turns out to be the dream venue. With gorgeous gardens, a beautiful indoor space and outdoor lawns for your guests to wander (or for your outdoor ceremony) you really can’t go wrong here!

Rollins Mansion (below) is historic and BEAUTIFUL!! I don’t love their indoor venue option, but the outdoor space is so pretty - and the reception hall is great as well!! Perfect for getting married and celebrating while feeling like royalty!!

Carper Winery (below) is a great spot if you want a mix of modern and barn vibes. I will say that we would most likely want to find a location off-site for outdoor group photos, since there is a lack of good shade/trees (welcome to thinking about lighting 24/7!!!) but sunset here is AMAZING. :)

There are a few venues that I haven’t photographed weddings at yet but so hope to:
-Toast in Ankeny
-Glen Oaks country club
-Wakonda Club
-Embassy Club in Downtown

FLORAL DESIGN

A floral company run by sisters!? The dream!! I adore the gals from Tulipsis and you will, too!!

I’m NEVER disappointed by Something Chic florals. Olivia chose them for her wedding at the DSM Botanical gardens, and they matched the elegant spring vibes perfectly. :)

Megan chose Adina Blooms for her flowers and I was SO impressed! Her bouquet was the most vibrant EVER and just absolutely a delight to photograph— if you’re looking for a quality florist, be sure to check them out!

Story City Floral & Garden did a beautiful job with Laura’s wildflower (below) inspired bouquet! Perfect if you’re located in Ames for your wedding.

RENTALS

Sarah of Vowed Vintage is my go-to gal for decor and wedding supplies! She’s got that magic touch, and will go above & beyond for her couples. I’m hopeful we’ll work together again in the near future!!

You’ll be so happy with rentals from Borrow My Vintage if you’re hoping for some romantic, vintage pieces to spice up your engagement photos, wedding decor, or even just your portraits on the wedding day!!
