Jenna and Treye’s wedding took place on one of the most popular days in June! And what a day it was. A few rainstorms hit Pella right before their first look was going to take place, but Jenna took it in stride. Sure enough, after waiting it out, the rains passed and the sun came out (bringing humidity right along with it!). Classic Iowa summers.
It was such an honor to photograph this wedding day. After taking photos of their proposal in a Des Moines escape room, and then engagement photos later last fall, this day was long awaited on my end—and even more for these two! They’ve worked through so much in the past year. Getting to know each other, meeting family members, making memories, buying a house, getting a puppy, walking through some tough days, and persevering with humility, tenderness, and love.
I LOVE photographing weddings in Des Moines. We’re blessed with an abundance of gorgeous wedding venues (from Barnes Place to the Tea Room, and historic Rollins Mansion to the modern BASH downtown) and so many parks that bloom May through September. However, I’ve also discovered that a few towns surrounding Des Moines add to the charm and allure that Central Iowa has to offer! Pella, Iowa stands out as a town to remember. From spring’s Tulip Time to the square lit up for Christmas, you can’t go wrong planning a wedding in this adorable village, straight out of Holland. Jenna, our bride, grew up here and calls it home—which made this Pella wedding day all the more special!!!
Jenna got ready for her wedding day in the cutest Air BNB cottage near downtown Pella! Her mom, grandma, and all her bridesmaids were in attendance to help her not miss a beat. Jenna was STUNNING in her backless dress, and you’ll see soon enough my obsession with her florals. Shelly Sarver does it again! A first look overlooking a pond, songs sang and recorded by the couple during the ceremony, and photos with their puppy at their home…this is one wedding day photography set you’re going to want to view!
I’ve just got to share a few more of my favorite portraits from this day. Jenna and Treye were so wonderfully present with their friends and family throughout the day (getting ready, during the ceremony, at the reception) but they also obliged us “camera ladies” with some great moments to capture portraits. I can’t wait to see what they decide to print… or maybe they’ll order an album someday…because DANG they have some great ones to pick from!
Ending with two of my favorites! I’m obsessed with you two. Have a wonderful time in Arizona, but hurry back so we can hang out soon at Adventureland! ;)
