Watching one of your best friends walk through a whirlwind romance almost feels like watching a play unfold. You don’t know where the story is going, there are great laughs, little “bloops”, tears shed and although you have a feeling that the new guy introduced is going to be the one who she says yes to… it’s all unseen until it happens.
That’s a bit how Morganne & Bobby’s romance happened. Quietly, then quickly, and finding out at game nights that they’ve finally kissed and said “I love you’s” and then he texts you with a request, so you clear your schedule to photograph the proposal and try sooooo hard to make sure she doesn’t know. Then more phone calls and engagement photos in a Des Moines greenhouse, praying the stress of wedding planning doesn’t break them. Lots of prayers and hugs, group texts with the girls planning a bachelorette party two days before the wedding date and spraying champagne at the bridal shower. (Sorry Machelle!!!) And suddenly, it’s just past the year anniversary of their first “official” date and it’s their official wedding date. A day with prayed away rain. Bridal bushes outside their new (first!) home. Old and newer friends. Lots of coffee. Prayer. And finally, a new family begun. Mr & Mrs Dennis.
Peep that scrabble box that Bobby used during the proposal!!!
Meanwhile, groom Bobby was getting ready just steps away from where he and Morganne would say vows… Riverside Lutheran Bible Camp is always a gorgeous wedding venue. Also, someone please marry outside here and hire me to photograph it!? Seriously a huge dream of mine.
I’ll let these photos tell you how they felt about getting married!
The bridal party hid away while guests began arriving. Each group took a few moments to pray over the bride and groom. Tears were shed on both sides, and it was such a peaceful moment!
Time for the reception! This was one of the most fun, gorgeous decoration settings I’ve seen at Riverside. (And it’s my 3rd wedding there!) Morganne studies Event Management in college at Iowa State, tho. Soooo that may be part of her detail-oriented, pretty-decor personality. ;) Imagine loads of eucalyptus, a donut peg board, woodsy touches, and scripture in script and that’s Morganne’s dreamy reception!
Snuck out with these two for a few sunset photos. More bug attacks, but a smoke bomb helped add a little color and clear out the mosquitos for a few moments! Art for the win. :)
