You may remember Melanie and Ryan from our early summer engagement session at Snookie’s. Even if you don’t, you’ll want to stick around to see this wedding day! It was intentionally simple and purposeful. Ryan and Mel chose to marry at their church, with only family and a couple of friends attending. All the dining items were reusable or biodegradable, and the flowers were picked from the farm where the reception was held (and where the couple now live!) by our mutual friend Jessica.
Melanie is effortlessly beautiful, and that was true especially on her wedding day. From the perfect hairstyle and dress, to her sweet excitement while greeting family and guests, you couldn’t find a more perfect bride! Ryan is her perfect match, funny and kind, faith centered and work ethic to boot. It was so wonderful to see all their favorite people come together to celebrate them, and to know that this marriage is built to last!
The gals helped Melanie prepare for her wedding at the stunning Savoy Hotel downtown in Des Moines. She was serene and giggly, and the girls toasted with mimosas before heading to Hope Lutheran, where Mel finished dressing. After the most tender first look and some portraits in the Sculpture Park (feat. new LOVE art!) the ceremony took place in a touching and faith-filled ceremony. The guests began showing up at the Snyder Heritage Farm, pulling out umbrellas to walk to the barn and tent. Beer kegs flowed, snacks quickly disappeared, and the night perfectly ended with twinkle lights standing in for stars under a clouded, misty sky.
