Megan and Evan’s wedding day remained a gorgeous celebration of love, despite the months of hectic re-planning due to Coronavirus. They kept their original date, and chose to marry outdoors in the gorgeous space of Rock Creek State Park in central Iowa— with just immediate family and a couple close friends to witness their nuptials. I met Megan back in 2013, when my friend (and her older sister) Rachel married Nick. Megan has seen me photograph a few other weddings of mutual friends as well in the years since, and so it was a joy to receive her email last summer about planning to be her and Evan’s wedding photographer! We took some wildflower and water themed engagement photos, not knowing then that their wedding day would follow suit.
Megan dressed in her elegant wedding gown in the Penthouse Suite at Hotel Grinnell, after a morning mimosa Zoom call with her bridesmaids, who all dressed up in their bridesmaids dresses, just for her! Evan and I then drove to Rock Creek, where some friends were putting finishing touches on the outdoor ceremony location. The bride and groom had an emotional first look, followed by time with family before the wedding ceremony began. It was officiated by Megan’s brother-in-law Nick. Of course, a champagne toast followed with laughter and tears and hugs among the family!
