Few things make me more emotional/sentimental than heading back to my hometown of Cedar Falls. It’s where the majority of my growing up years took place & full of so many memories and spaces that I love. One of my high school classmates (and fellow violinist through UNI Suzuki!) lives in town and it’s where she and her now HUSBAND are making their lives together. They planned to get married in 2020, but ended up pushing back to this spring. Even with a rainy day in early May of 2021, this downtown Cedar Falls wedding couldn’t have been more perfect.
Things kicked off at Alex’s mother’s house (a goooorgeous Craftsman home). That’s where the couple got ready, had their first look, and where the intimate reception was hosted later that evening.
Photos of Andy and his mom Mary helping him finish up that wedding day look… so so sweet. Seriously, these two together make me melt!!!
ALSO these two! All the sweet mom moments. It was also mother’s day weekend… maybe that’s why it felt so extra special?!
Alex’s grandparents married here, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, back in the mid-1900s. Because of the family connection, this church is now where Alex & Andy married!! Isn’t that so special!? Like, seriously a midwestern “You’ve Got Mail” or something.
After a limo ride (surprise!) these two and their gaggle of friends stopped at the historic Black Hawk hotel to check the couple in & grab another drink or two in the bar. The perfect place for a few more photos, if you ask this photographer. ;)
Alex made the deserts by herself. Not JUST the wedding cake… ALL OF THEM! Macarons, both cakes, cake balls… holy buckets of yum.
Enter: the charcuterie TABLE OF DREAMS.
