January is such an interesting month. It’s usually the first REAL cold season here in Iowa, and often when we get our snow debut. After the holidays, things quiet down but at the same time- activities ramp up with the start of school, and everyone trying to find ways to be social on the long winter nights. January truly is always an adventure for me; it’s not a peak month for photography (although it’s not unusual to have a wedding or two!) and sometimes- like this year!- I get to do a snowy engagement session.
Elizabeth and Zachary requested some engagement photos. Actually, Elizabeth emailed me about booking a session as a gift to Zachary for Christmas! We met up before classes at ISU started up, so we mostly had the university campus to ourselves. It was a bit windy and cold, but the sunshine was stunning on the slim layer of snow, and we popped in and out of buildings on campus to keep warm.
Often, I come into an engagement session not knowing everything about the couple, so it’s a great chance for me to get to learn about their story and who they are as a pair! These two met on campus through friends, and quickly became more than that. Zachary proposed in November (right around his birthday!) and now these two are working on finishing up their undergraduate degrees at Iowa State and planning both a wedding, and a life together. :)
