WHERE DO I START. WOW! Natalie and Alex happen to be some of the most laid back, kind, fun people you could know. And they sure know how to pick their friends! (Just wait until you see the bridal party portraits. Some of my fav. Ever.) These two met during college, and although they were interested in each other, Alex waited until after Natalie's summer of camp counseling to ask her out. Because he didn't want to distract her from the kids and her work! You just can't beat character.
This gorgeous day started off at Valley Church in West Des Moines, the church Natalie's family attends. While the girls were finish up their hair appointments, Erin and I started detail photos. The gorgeous dusty blue bridesmaids' dresses made a great backdrop for Natalie's comfy shoes and veil! After mom and sister Virginia helped Natalie into her dress and veil, she did a little reveal with all of her sisters and bridesmaids. SO precious.
For Natalie and Alex's first look, we chose a park right by the West Des Moines public library. The shade not only helped us keep cool, but also made a gorgeous backdrop for the photos! These two were so excited to see each other, and it was obvious each one had been ready for a while. ;)
I think that the following photo is my favorite from the whole day! You guys, this bridal party was so goofy but in the best "fun and not creepy or hitting on the photographers" way. ;) I want to be best friends with all of them, basically.
We headed back to the Valley Church to cool off (it was sooo hot outside) and the guests began arriving shortly after. I snagged a few photos, and then the wedding began!
On to the reception! They held it at the Hilton Garden Inn, just a few minutes away from Valley. I love when it takes 5 minutes to drive to the reception from the ceremony! It was beautifully decorated with flowers from Something Chic Floral and amaaaazing cupcakes for their "cupcake toast"! I will definitely be suggesting that all my couples start serving cupcakes (or dessert in general) before dinner. Also, the flowers at Table 15 were in memory of Alex's mom, and such a beautiful way to honor her during their wedding day.
Snuck Alex and Natalie outside for a few golden hour photos--they were the epitome of gushy love and it was perfect. :)
