Imagine waking up in Princeville, Hawaii— roosters serving as an alarm clock, the sun slowly painting the sky soft hues of pastels. You stretch, then remember… it’s your wedding day!!! A smile appears on your face as you grab a robe and a mug of hot coffee to watch the sunrise, soaking up the cool breeze and the birds singing. After you’ve fully awoken, you start the process of hair and makeup, jamming out to your favorite playlist of love songs (or show tunes… or both!).

Once you’ve finished the HMU process, the gown you’ve chosen for the current most important day of your life is unzipped from the bridal store bag. Your mom starts to cry, and you laugh— you haven’t even put it on yet! Your maid of honor helps you in and zips or buttons you up. More tears are shed, and makeup is applied again. The florist drops off your flowers, a fresh bouquet with luscious garden roses and peachy ranunculus.

Later, you run (almost) down the isle set up on the beach and promise to serve each other + love in the good and hard days. You kiss! Everyone cheers while you dance towards the greeting line and cocktail hour. Newly minted bride and groom, you sneak away with your wedding photographer to grab some romantic and picturesque photos on the lush island of Kauai. After all, it’s not every day that you get married in Hawaiian paradise!

These wedding portraits will be some of your favorite photos for years to come. Not just because they were taken in Kauai, and on your wedding weekend, but because they’ll remind you of the blush you felt when he whispered he loved you, the tears your daddy dropped as he danced with you for the first time, and the sunset that night you became a wife. In years to come, you’ll change and grow together, and see that the love you shared on your wedding day was only an inkling of what was to come.

The photos above were taken in Princeville at our airbnb. We then took a drive and ended up in a spot of shade, just out of the harsh Hawaiian sun. Bride Kenzie’s dress was just SO fun to play with, it basically had a built in cape! So we made sure to throw that around just a bit. ;)
