My many obsessions come & go, but one love that remains forever is the combination of florals + tulle! This dreamy styled shoot came together in the span of about 10 days, thanks to the hard work of my dear friend + assistant Shelby, and the incredible vendors from Ames + Des Moines, who took part in this session! The inspiration for this styled shoot is all due to my new favorite videographer Ale Vidal… she’s AMAZING. (I played around with some video as well, you can see a sneak peek here!)
Motion captures the eye. It reminds us that we’re alive.
I believe that is why we go to the water when we are in pain, mourning, or feeling alone. (Have you ever wondered why we go to the beaches or mountains for vacation? The water calms us— whether mountain streams, downhill skiing on snow [water!], boating, or just sitting on the beach watching the sun dip behind a vast ocean!)
Including motion in this session was very important to me. To create layers + go beyond the typical “twirls” of wedding dresses, we grabbed a few yards of tulle. It caught the light and air in a calming way— truly, this session felt almost therapeutic! The softness of the fabrics, our stunning models, and the afternoon sun as she kissed our cheeks + souls that afternoon… a perfect combination for beauty.
