One of the most common questions I get when people first find out that I run my own photography business is “what does a normal day/week look like for you?” and I have to admit that there’s no such thing in my world. Some are more disciplined than I, and that’s great (and something I’d like to learn how to do eventually!) but I also enjoy the flexibility my schedule provides.
Monday: Since it was MLK Jr Day, I woke up in Colorado. We packed up the AirBnb, and hit the road. I didn’t get home until about 9:30pm. Longgggg day of listening to book and driving a shift in the car.
Tuesday: First day back home after the long weekend!
Got up, made breakfast, checked the emails
Prepped for my week some, confirmed 2 sessions for Wednesday
Consult call with a potential bride
Went grocery shopping (re: post-vacation haul) & ran a load of laundry
Visited the gym for a yoga class with Lo, perfect to stretch my tight calves from skiing
Made a late dinner, played some animal crossing before bed
Wednesday: my busy day this week!
Announced my Valentine’s Mini sessions
Prepped gear for my afternoon headshots
Call with a possible employer
Video chat with Naomi (her birthday!)
Lunch, then headed to the studio for 2 sessions
Drove home in the snow, answered more emails and started culling/editing after backing up my camera cards from the afternoon
Dinner then b-stud in town (driving in was SCURRY but we made it)
Thursday: snow day… kinda
actually woke up before my roommate left for work! (not a daily occurrence)
played animal crossing after morning planning (shhh) and shoveled as my workout
emails and contracts and invoices (got ghosted a ton - it’s sadly normal)
called a potential client then did some banking
lunch, editing & gallery prepped, phone call with possible wedding couple
looked into what I need to order for wedding welcome gifts, then dinner!
hung out with my roommate since we’d been missing seeing each other for a while
Friday: yay!
showered & had bfast
answered a few emails
headed to Urbandale for a corporate headshot session at a return client’s office
lunch & working at a coffee shop… catching up on asking for reviews and other admin (also realizing how behind i am on prepping for April 15 ahhhh)
back home to send out a few galleries, then chill before evening plans
Saturday: no wedding this weekend, so I’ll be doing other things… like working out (see —>) and a biz meeting and checking out The Vineyard at St Charles, and then helping friends at their house with some home demo!
Sunday:
church!
took a spontaneous nap!!
tea and library with a friend
dinner and video games with my sis
Then it’s time to start over again! I have a feeling that I’ll be catching up on random work this week that I’ve been putting off, some cleaning up (this sunshine on a Monday has me feeling like purging all my junk!) and I know I get to see some friends I haven’t seen in over 2 years this week. 😍 So there you have it!!
What other questions do you have? Should I do this again during wedding season??
