Capturing growing families -specifically, maternity sessions- will always have a special place in my heart. I hope to do more of these sessions as my clients’ and friends grow their families!!
Spring is in the air, and I truly think I know as many babies being born this year as flowers on the crabapple tree in my yard!! It’s really the year of babies (perhaps due to this being Year of the Dragon!?) and I’m excited for all the sweet photos and snuggles it will bring me. :)
A cozy spring newborn session at home in Ames, Iowa.
You’ll never find me turning down a maternity session- especially for good friends! I can’t wait to watch these two thrive as parents. :)
Meet sweet Eleanor (Nori)! At just under a week old, she may be one of the “freshest” babies I’ve gotten to capture! She was so cozy during this special at-home newborn photo session in Waterloo. I can’t wait to watch her grow!
Meet Semeone & Aline! A sweet springtime maternity session in the heart of Des Moines just hit the blog today.
Newborn photos bring me such joy, it’s always sweet to watch siblings and parents’ soak up those new little humans and the love the bring to the world! Calvin kept his eyes open during most of our session, just content to watch his favorite people (and my camera) during our cozy at-home session.
Baby Jordan and I share a birthday, which made meeting him all the more special! He was so alert (and quiet!) for most of our session, until he finally decided to nap at the end. ;)
Such a fun December newborn session at home with baby Theo and his family!
Ashley's fall maternity session was absolute dreaminess and I could gush about it still.. I’m so thankful to have met this cool couple, and that we got to hang out for photos not just in the fall, but this winter with the arrival of their newborn son! Enjoy this downtown Des Moines maternity photo session.
I love when friends connect me with their friends… especially when those new friends have a boat! ;) Jake and Nicole graciously invited me through my friend Michelle to hangout with them on July 4th last year, and we had a great day on and in the water. Now they’re expecting a sweet babe, and wanted to capture some photos during this season of maternity.
I love capturing those sweet early days at home with your newborn baby. And winter seems to be my busiest time for these sweet newborn photos… so here’s a session from earlier this year that I somehow missed blogging! Enjoy!
Newborn photos are always a treat for me- I just wish I could stay longer to snuggle them, every time. ;) I’m so excited that I’ll have a few more newborn sessions this winter to keep me fresh!! Enjoy sweet Nellie when she was just a few weeks old.
One of my best friends became an aunt recently, and her brother & his wife decided to take me up on newborn photos! I got to visit their historic home in the heart of Des Moines on a sunny spring afternoon, and captured some sweet moments of this tender (but chaotic & transitional!) season for the T family. Welcome to the world, baby Lewis!
Meeting a sweet babe and getting to take lifestyle newborn photos at home is always a joy! It’s even better when you know the parents pretty well. ;) Thankful to have had the chance to meet this precious little girl and take photos of her family.
Capturing each stage of life is so unique, and newborn sessions are one of those that just really stand out as special!! I treasure the few photos I have from my early weeks of life, especially the ones with my parents holding me in the hospital. So it’s a joy to capture my friends lives as they transition into parenthood, and take photos that they’ll hopefully treasure for a lifetime :)
I think one of the most UNDERRATED photo sessions to do is maternity pictures! I think they’re a beautiful way to remember this unique season of life— especially for those expecting their first child. Click the full blog post to see more.
There’s literally nothing more perfect than maternity photos in the spring! Hope blooms afresh in the flowers, nesting birds, and baby bellies alike. Enjoy this precious session with Simon and Carolina!
