Every wedding day is special to me- but this one is extra sweet, because Michelle is one of my best friends & she married the love of her life, Matt, in November. I was able to be there to photograph & celebrate with them- such a joyful day!
Allergy season is here, which is unfortunate for my sinuses and tissue budget, but fortunate for you all and anyone who enjoys beautiful flowering plants & trees!! I have a few spots left for spring mini’s and wanted to make sure you all know about it! :)
I don’t often take senior guy photos- they just don’t come my way as often as the gals do! But Ian was such a treat to work with, and we had a beautiful golden hour to capture some memories of him on the cusp of adulthood and all that lies beyond high school.

Newborn photos bring me such joy, it’s always sweet to watch siblings and parents’ soak up those new little humans and the love the bring to the world! Calvin kept his eyes open during most of our session, just content to watch his favorite people (and my camera) during our cozy at-home session.
Planning a wedding and unsure of the cost? Well, I don’t know it all… but thankfully I have lots of past clients and friends who have gotten married here in Des Moines, and shared some advice on how they budgeted for their weddings. Claire wanted fall senior photos, and Iowa definitely delivered! Between Valley Junction’s cute downtown, and the stunning colors of autumn at Dale Maffit Lake Reservoir, we had a stunning session to capture her seinor year memories.
It was a hot day in August, but the clouds rolled in to give us some relief from the humidity. Zoe can be more quiet than some, but we still great giggles together while exploring Valley Junction and West Des Moines for her senior photo experience!!
Fall engagement photos are always the most sought after, and last year was no exception. Thankfully, Joy & Austin were able to make an early November date work to sneak in photos before winter hit, and I got to spend golden hour at one of my favorite “secret” parks in DSM! Still had some great color (just a little bitter wind, too!). These two are so goofy together, and I can’t wait for their wedding this fall!
I wish these two lived closer to me so we could hang out again- it was so wonderful to get to capture their love in the city where it all began, Ames! These two met at ISU, and it was perfect to celebrate their wedding in Mackenzie’s hometown (with a few photos in Kildee Hall, and London Underground, of course!)
It’s almost graduation season for all my incredible seniors of 2023… and that means I’m starting to book seniors for this summer! Class of 2024, are you ready!? I’ve loved honing my skills as a professional senior photographer for the past 10 years. Each year, the seniors get cooler and the photo sessions become less work and more play. ;) Enjoy Katie’s senior session!

I’m a huge fan of headshot photography! I think that it’s important to update your online profiles ever few years, and so I loved that Puma reached out to me when she needed some new photos. We snagged a studio space downtown Des Moines, and had a wonderful time chatting, laughing and making some camera magic happen!
Snowstorms are fun… but also hard to take photos in! So it was a treat to get to photograph Katie & Eric inside one of my favorite local greenhouses. Bonus: I had to purchase a plant to bring home to thank the shop. ;)
Baby Jordan and I share a birthday, which made meeting him all the more special! He was so alert (and quiet!) for most of our session, until he finally decided to nap at the end. ;)
